Brighton and Hove council has finally started to collect bags of rubbish which have been gathering for weeks.
There have been problems with household rubbish collection rounds in Brighton and Hove for months. Areas affected include Queen’s Park, Brunswick and Adelaide, Withdean, Patcham, Woodingdean, Hollingbury, Coldean and parts of Preston Park.
A council spokeswoman issued the following statement:
“We are aware there are problems in areas across the city and there are some roads still suffering delays, but we are working closely with staff and the unions to resolve the issues.
The changes affect 121,000 properties across 3,000 streets and, for most people, the service is running smoothly.
However, we have always been clear that the new routes would take until around the end of the year to “bed down” and we are on target to meet this promise”
